My name is Nicquel pronounced (Nick- Cal) my mom thought she was naming a celebrity or some thing lol, But it’s a great conversation starter I always get Nicole or my favorite from school (NyQuil yes like the medicine)! I am a Married woman of six years and 13 total years together all I can say is it’s work and communication! To know me is know that everything I do is all through the grace of God my faith is everything!

To tell you I always loved beauty and was a girly girl would be furthest from the truth. I was a total tomboy & nerd in school played soccer my whole childhood through high school I loved everything that gave me a creative outlet it was like therapy for me (Making clothes ,arm candy, drawing, cutting up teen magazine and making collages, drama class, to creating my MySpace page) Art for me was many forms !

I just Hit the big 30 in 2022 and I have never felt more like myself I have been a mom my whole adult life yes I have kids I am a mom of five children (wow) four births and one bonus child, to be quite honest I lacked the confidence I once had with my pre-baby self  so I indulged in the beauty world 2011 with just an overall love of applying make up on myself it gave me a confidence I didn’t have for a while. I am 100% not saying at all that you need make up to be beautiful it was just such an amazing thing to be able to use my artistic ability to give myself that boost of self love. With that being said I have never gave it a thought to do this professionally with tons of YouTube videos (shout out to Michelle Phan) and self taught practice I began to use my knowledge to help friends and family to get ready.

I ended up falling in love with the Wow factor after my test subjects were done I call them that because this was my pre professional stage lol! I got pretty good on my own but I thought I’d go to school to develop my craft and learn how to do it professionally. So that’s what I did 2015 I finished and it went nowhere really I had a couple you can pay me whatever clients lol ! Hey I made 20 bucks with the travel included I was just happy to know that my art was worth something but how can I make it better I asked myself!

Over the course of eight years I never let this passion go didn’t put the brushes down I begin learning from the best of the best ( Make up by Mario, Scott Barnes, Kevin Aucoin, countless others) I started working with amazing photographers designers, artist, brands to build professionalism and structure my intent was to work on set and do celebrity clients I did a little and still do here and there but at the time it wasn’t a great fit for me I was asked in 2017 by a family friend to do make up for her wedding with utter insecurities I couldn’t but she insisted and had confidence in me! So I did my first wedding it was 14 make up applications by myself with my husband cleaning my 15 brushes in between. I loved the chaos of it and found I am actually surprisingly calm under pressure so I started my bridal artist journey.

I began working with the top bridal beauty groups and it quickly gave me the insight I needed doing several weddings a day/week I hustled hard to get more clients in my chair so I can learn through experience what school couldn’t really teach me. Developing my style over the years I have done every client under the sun all skin tones textures and types! After 2.5 years of working with bridal Beauty groups I decided to open my own personal bridal business I have done over 1,000 weddings and counting it is where I am meant to be I love love. During my career I have had tons of mentors and one like no other Alexis G. Huerta she believed in me and pushed me out of my comfort zone taking me along with her to major opportunities she didn’t let me give up.

I like to say I am an introvert and an extrovert with only a minimal amount of people so I struggle with public speaking but she brought me along to teach classes to other soon to be artist and opened a whole new passion for me and that was becoming an educator! She allowed me the space to create and establish a way to teach my technique it was like second nature to me ! Her heart and generosity has inspired me to be more like her and that is to pay everything forward to give other women artists opportunities to flourish!

This is an art outlet like no other! A calling I had no idea I was meant for to use my art to uplift other woman to see themselves under a different light bringing out their best qualities. This career goes further than the surface for me it’s more than vanity it is about community as women to also encourage other artist to pursue their passion to fight the urge to quit when we doubt our abilities and compare ourselves to others. To make art even when it sucks lol because having artist block is a thing! I go through it twice a year and feel totally uninspired but when I come back I am better than ever my journey feels so long yet it’s so fresh and I am so grateful for each opportunity I get to work or inspire.

My biggest thing in business and life is not to burn bridges but to build them! With all that being said thank you for stopping by and getting to know me a little bit!
